A collection of deeds and court records with no known provenance, organized by Connecticut county. The records for Hartford County consist of writs, an apprenticeship agreement for Henry Olcott to learn the trade of house joiner, a will, a promissory note, and a marriage certificate of an African American couple. The names that predominate are Olcott, Terry, Elisha Wells and Levi Wells. Middlesex County records consist of the estate records of Solomon B. Edwards of Portland, 1874-1875, and two sets of obituary statements or short eulogies, undated. New Haven records include deeds for land in Woodbridge and Meriden, a release from a bond, and the inventory of Joseph Ayer, undated. New London County record are confined to Lebanon, Groton and Norwich and include deeds as well as the inventories for the estates of Elisha and Simon Edgerton. The towns represented in Tolland County are Mansfield, Coventry and Hebron and consist of deeds and court records such as writs and complaints. Windham County towns include Pomfret, Ashford, Plainfield and Columbia. Many of the writs, 1726-1824, involved Samuel Dorrance. At the end of the collection are deeds for Massachusetts, Rhode Island and North Carolina.
